Next visit will be to the floating gardens of Xochimilco, located in the south of Mexico City. Floating island (chinampas) were built by the Aztecs in the middle of Xochimilco Lake to cultivate flowers and vegetables, to be delivered to the city on the flat boats called - trajineras. Today Xochimilco canals are popular for mexicans to celebrate or just to have a picknic with family or friends accompained by mariachis or marimba.
